Gaby Lavalle is a Chicago-based artist and art educator.
Four years ago, she moved from Mexico City (her home town) to Chicago.
In Mexico, she worked as a costume designer and was in charge of the wardrobe department for some international soap-operas and TV shows. Since she was a little girl, Gaby loved painting but always saw it as her hobby. Coming to Chicago was an opportunity for her to change her career path and follow her passion for art. She did a painting certificate at The School of the Art Institute (SAIC), where she took painting and art history classes and fell in love with art even more. That made her wanted to share her passion with others and pursued a Masters at SAIC in Art Education.
Her focus is in Museum education and believes that museums are safe spaces where people can learn and engage in critical conversations and find inspiration and growth. With the pandemic, she has been focusing on her artist practice, teaching art to little ones, and sharing museum education posts in her IG account @museumtalk.
